I have just arrived home from my skiing holiday to Bulgaria and wanted to share some of my fave holiday snaps! My family and I flew to Sofia in Bulgaria and then had a rather slow 3 hour bus journey up the Mountain to our resort; Bansko.

I feel like Bulgaria has recently become more popular with the British for skiing. I mean, what's more attractive to the average Brit than a famous Bulgarian half litre of beer?
On a serious note, compared the Alps, Bulgaria is a much more affordable option. The mountains are great and there's options for the non-skiers too.

3 top things you need to do in Bansko, Bulgaria:

1. SKI (obvs) - I think you're better off going earlier in the season to resorts in Bulgaria. We were lucky to have good snow and sunshine for the majority of the week, however, towards the end of the holiday, the clouds were low and visibility was poor. The slopes are a good for beginners and intermediate skiers. If you want to spend every hour of every day on the slopes then the Bulgarian resorts aren't for you. However, if you like to ski for fun and enjoy huge, wide slopes with a varied amount of blue's and red's, this is the place for you.

2. Make the most of the hotel's spa facilities - it seems that most hotels have luxury spa facilities and I would highly recommend Hotel Amira, where we stayed. The spa has so many facilities such as, sauna's, a steam room, jacuzzi, pool and a huge choice of massages.

3. Head to Bansko Old Town for a traditional meal - the Old Town itself is really pretty, completely different to what you expect when you arrive in the Bansko Ski Resort itself. If you walk 10 minutes into the town, you are met with gorgeous houses that are hundred's of years old. We had a traditional Bulgarian meal in the Old Town. The food was delicious and there was also live music which made for a really good atmosphere.
